LEE CO., Iowa — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Lee County will host a Swine Ventilation Workshop on Tuesday, March 3 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Central Lee Community School District FFA Building. This workshop combines classroom instruction with hands-on trials and applications of knowledge gained in the real world setting to help people understand issues and consequences of decisions.
Session includes the basics of ventilation systems, effective temperature requirements, troubleshooting tools and techniques. Attendees will be able to see and feel the impacts that design, maintenance and management can have on various ventilation practices with Iowa State’s 24- foot mobile Swine Ventilation Trailer.
Tom Miller, ISU Extension and Outreach Swine Specialist states, Iowa State’s ventilation trailer is valuable because it allows people to have one’s hand at investigating ventilation and controller settings without risk of on-farm biosecurity breaches.”
