LAMBERTON, Minn. — The 35th annual Southwest Minnesota Ag Lenders Conference will be held on Tuesday, August 14 at the University of Minnesota Southwest Research and Outreach Center near Lamberton, Minn. Agricultural lenders and farm management and agribusiness professionals throughout southwest Minnesota are encouraged to attend.
Matthew Diersen, professor and Extension Specialist in the SDSU Department of Economics, will deliver a keynote address on the economic landscape for ag commodities. Diersen will share insights on the emerging trends that will affect the major commodities of the region including livestock, feed and crop price impacts. Joleen Hadrich, U of MN Extension economist and associate professor in the Department of Applied Economics, will share characteristics of successful Minnesota farmers based on data collected from the MN farm business management program and SWMFBMA members.
Extension educators will give presentations on emerging financial and profitability trends in the Southwest Minnesota Farm Business Management Association; the 2017 Tax Cut & Jobs Act and how it impacts farm families; and U of MN ag business management program opportunities. The conference also features a tour of current SWROC research and a cookout steak lunch.
Registration for the conference begins at 8:15 a.m. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m. Space is limited, so registration is encouraged by August 6 and walk-ins must call ahead.
