FARGO, N.D. — The North Dakota Grain Growers Association has come out in support of The Regulatory Accountability Act. The bill, co-sponsored by U.S. Senators Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and Rob Portman (R-OH), would reform the federal regulatory process to ensure regulations are effective without hindering businesses.
NDGGA President John Weinand says the bipartisan effort is a good sign for North Dakota farmers. “We’re all for common sense regulatory reform,” he said. “It’s good that they want to take a look at this from both sides, get input from the people affected by these regulations and consider that along with the scientific evidence that shows the economic impact.”
Weinand says the NDGGA has long been a champion of open communication and transparency within the regulatory process. “Events like our annual environmental tour really highlight our commitment to ensuring North Dakota farmers have a say in the regulations that impact their livelihoods,” he said. “It’s nice to see that legislators on the federal level are starting to be open to reviewing these policies, and we’re looking forward to working with them to ensure agriculture remains a thriving industry in North Dakota.”
