ENFIELD, Conn. — Farm Credit East is pleased to host 18 college students with career aspirations in agribusiness, accounting, finance or similar fields as part of its annual summer internship program. “Our internship program exemplifies our commitment to the future of Northeast agriculture, commercial fishing and forest products,” said Bill Lipinski, Farm Credit East CEO. “The program challenges the students and provides them with first-hand, real world experience in their anticipated fields.”

This year’s Farm Credit East interns include: Nicole Allen, Mass Maritime Academy; Casey Branstetter, Pennsylvania State University; Lillian Boyd, Cazenovia College; Andrew Coon, Cornell University; Kendall Cross, Cornell University; Daniel Dzen, SUNY Cobleskill; Jacob Evans, SUNY Cobleskill; Maiya Gibbs, Cornell University; Andrew Good, Pennsylvania State University; Joel Hargrave, Clarkson University; Tara Hammonds, Cornell University; Chelsea Kegler, Kansas State University; Daniel Makarevich, Virginia Polytechnic Institute; Grace Mortellaro, Cornell University; Madison Stevens, Cornell University; Samuel Reichman, Rutgers University; Ashley Rice, Delaware Valley University; and Brian Thomas, University of Connecticut.

The 12-week internship program is offered to college juniors each summer. During the experience, students earn an inside look into Farm Credit East and the various career opportunities by shadowing employees in various roles. Each intern also completes a major project, many of which fulfill business plan initiatives. These projects contribute valuable information to be used in reports and future planning.

“Our internship program serves as an excellent recruiting tool to maintain Farm Credit East’s commitment to Northeast agriculture,” said Briana Beebe, Farm Credit East Director of Human Resources. “Our internship advisors put together a well-rounded experience so that each intern is exposed to agriculture native to that area.”

Interns are recruited from college campuses across the Northeast. On many of these campuses Farm Credit East has established relationships with campus organizations such as Future Farmers of America (FFA), Farm Credit Fellows and 4H. The organization also utilizes their network of customer and employee referrals to recruit interns and employees.
