YORK, Pa. — The Street 2 Creek Storm Drain Art Project is a project using street art to raise awareness about stormwater runoff and the negative impacts it can have on our waterways. Local artists will be painting storm drains in downtown York this week. Monday, August 19th at 8:30am, artists will begin painting drains at Continental Square (intersection of Market Street and George Street) in York. Tuesday, August 20th at 8:30am, artists will be painting at and near the West Market Street bridge by the Codorus Creek and the York County Heritage Rail Trail and at the intersection of S. George Street and E. King Street near City Hall.
We also invite you to our awards ceremony during Yorkfest on Saturday, August 24th at 1:15pm at the intersection of West Market Street and the York County Heritage Rail Trail. You will be able to meet the artists, the Street 2 Creek group and our judges.
Project Partners include the Penn State Master Watershed Stewards, the City of York, the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Assoc., Chesapeake Bay Foundation, PA office and the Watershed Alliance of York. The project was funded by the York Water Company, the Sandy Hollow Arts for Recreation & the Environment, the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Assoc. and Chesapeake Bay Foundation, PA office.
