DES MOINES, Iowa — The STEM Education + Workplace Partnerships – Governor’s 2019 Future Ready Iowa Summit will be held on Tuesday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Iowa Events Center – Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. Registration for the Summit closes this Friday, April 19. Please register for a nominal fee via credit/debit card or by invoice/purchase order at this link.
This summit will focus on how to cultivate tomorrow’s Iowa workforce by building and expanding innovative education-workplace partnerships across Iowa. Pioneers operating successful partnerships that currently dot the state will speak to the value that employer-interactions within classrooms have on both workplaces and schools. Keynote speakers at the Summit include:
- Former NASA astronaut, Dr. Peggy A. Whitson, who will speak to her STEM education and space experience as related to partnerships for success;
- Senior managing director of Midwest for Accenture, Pallavi Verma, who will speak on emerging technologies and how they are affecting our future workforce;
- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, who will give opening and closing remarks at the Summit and announce the six school awardees of the Computer Science is Elementary project;
- Executive Director of the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, Jeff Weld, who will speak to his work creating America’s STEM Strategic Plan as the former assistant director of STEM Education at the White House; and more.
