ALBANY — “The advancement of The Dairy Pricing Opportunity Act of 2021 is a crucial step forward in addressing the need for systematic change within the current federal milk marketing system. NEDPA thanks U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand for continuing to be a strong advocate and voice for New York’s family dairy farms.
“The proposed hearings will allow progressive dairy farmers the opportunity to work together with our elected leaders to review the Federal Milk Marketing Order, and provide data and feedback on its shortcomings. It would give voice to thousands of family farms in New York and across the country, and encourage collaboration to improve upon and fix the current milk pricing system. With rising input costs, labor shortages, and ramifications from the pandemic impacting dairy farms across the country, now is the time to build a fair dairy pricing system that allows farms to remain viable for future generations.
“We applaud Senator Gillibrand for her leadership and efforts to reform the dairy pricing system by bringing dairy farmers to the table to work together to establish a more modernized program.”
