All 2017 State 4-H Horse Show entries must be submitted through Fair Entry by July 1, 2017.
Judges
Lita is a horse trainer and coach residing near Rochester, MN. She has conducted clinics in several countries including Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Japan as well as across the US.
Currently, Lita holds 16 judge’s cards including AQHA, APHA, and NRHA. Her judging resume includes major shows such as AQHA Q11 in Aachen, Germany, AQHA Q15 in Australia, the Appaloosa Horse Club’s Youth World Show, Pinto Horse Association Congress, Pinto Horse Assocation World Show, POA Nationals, ApHCC Nationals, ApHCC Congress, AAA Nationals in Australia, and Scandinavian ApHC Championships. Along with her extensive judging and training experience, Lita has also checked some goals off her bucket list including:
- 2016 Israel team coach for the Youth World Cup Australia.
- Rode on the ocean beach in Denmark.
- Swam with dolphins in Australia.
Dr. Leigh Ann Skurupey
Fargo, ND
A graduate of Colorado State University with a B.S. in Equine and Animal Science, with a minor in Business Administration, Leigh Ann Skurupey recently completed her Ph.D. in Animal Sciences at the University of Florida where she also spent the last six years coaching the collegiate horse judging team. In that six years she coached a National, Reserve and Bronze World Champion intercollegiate horse judging teams. Dr. Skurupey has hosted horse judging and horsemanship clinics across the country. She is a carded judge for the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) and the American Stock Horse Association (ASHA). Leigh Ann has been judging both domestically and internationally for many years and has also served as a professional ring steward for several shows, most recently the American Paint Horse Association Youth World Show and the Gold and Gulf Coast Quarter Horse circuits in Florida. She’s also served as the official judge for horse judging contest across the country and brings years of teaching and horse experience to the industry. Currently, Dr. Skurupey is the NDSU Extension Service 4-H Youth Development Specialist where she coordinates all educational programs and events related to animal and equine science in North Dakota.
Josh began his horse showing career competing in game/speed events at age 2 through the MN WSCA and, later, in the MN 4-H program. Now, Josh, along with his wife, Alyssa, show their two horses, Ace and Jackson at AQHA, PtHA and WSCA shows in MN, ND, and SD in Western, Hunt Seat, Halter, Trai,l and Showmanship classes. Currently, Josh holds judge’s cards for PtHA, POA, WSCA and MN 4-H. He has had the opportunity to judge the MN WSCA Championship Show seven times, the MN State 4-H Horse show seven times, and the ND State 4-H Horse show twice. Josh works as a Farm Business Management Instructor for Northland Community and Technical College out of his office in Moorhead, MN.
