FORT PIERCE, Fla. –The Friends of the St. Lucie County Library Association, Inc. will host its 39th Annual Dinner and Meeting at the Pelican Yacht Club on Saturday, Nov. 9, featuring Author and Folklorist Bob Stone, who will present Florida Cattle Ranching: Five Centuries of Tradition, starting at 6 p.m.
Explore and celebrate Florida’s history and culture as the nation’s oldest cattle ranching state. Learn about ranching from the colonial period to the 21st Century in this multi-media presentation. Experience the sights and sounds of traditions including Cracker cow whips, unique ranch gate designs, cowboy church, Cracker cowboy funerals, roping and branding skills, rodeo culture, cowboy poetry, feisty cow dogs, Seminole ranching and much more.
Tickets for the 39th Annual Friends of the St. Lucie County Library Meeting cost $45 and include Stoneâs interactive presentation, dinner and a 2019-20 Friends membership.
