Spring Gardening Day, April 1st

Chase away the winter blues and get ready for spring gardening

HUDSON, N.Y. — Peter Bowden, horticulturist expert with more than 35 years of experience, author of many newspaper and magazine articles on all aspects of gardening, and spokesman for Hewitt’s Garden Center, will be our keynote speaker at Spring Gardening Day this year. Peter is also a celebrated local TV personality whose gardening segment airs on WRGB CBS 6 News, as well as an avid painter and photographer.

Peter will be speaking from 10:45am– 11:45 am (between workshop sessions) on the topic of Native Plants and Pollinators.

Spring Gardening Day is a traditional Spring “kick-off” event that draws hundreds of our area’s residents together for a series of science-based workshops taught by Master Gardener Volunteers and local experts. Fifteen 90-minute classes (two sessions) will be offered, covering a wide range of gardening topics including Attracting Birds and Butterflies with Native Plants; Creating A Cutting Garden; Gardening with Herbs; Rain Gardens; Vegetable Gardening; Worm Composting; Succulent Terrarium Building; and more.

Spring Gardening Day:

Date: Saturday, April 1
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Cost: $25 for keynote address and two workshops
Location: Columbia-Greene Community College, Hudson, NY
Registration deadline:  March 29th

Registrants can select one class from both workshop sessions; the first session runs from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., the second from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided during registration and the break.

The cost of the program is $25.00 per person for the entire morning or $15.00 per class if you wish to attend only one session. Please indicate your choice(s) on the registration form. Please complete the registration form and return it with the appropriate fee payable to Cornell Cooperation Extension, 479 Route 66, Hudson, NY 12534. It can be dropped through the mail slot in the main office door anytime. However, it must reach us by Friday, March 24.
