ATHENS, Ga. — US winter wheat production down 4 percent from June
Winter wheat production is forecast at 1.22 billion bushels, down 7 percent from 2019. As of July 1, the United States yield is forecast at 52.0 bushels per acre, down 1.6 bushels from last year’s average yield of 53.6 bushels per acre.
Key findings for the Southern Region from July Crop Production
United States all flue-cured tobacco production is forecast at 231 million pounds, down 22 percent from 2019. If realized, this will be the lowest flue-cured tobacco harvested acreage and production on record. Production in Georgia is forecast at 16.5 million pounds, down 13 percent from last year, and the lowest since 1932. Production in South Carolina is forecast at 11.9 million pounds, down 25 percent from last year, and the lowest since 1906.
