Southern Region farm production expenditures

2021 total farm production expenditure highlights

Farm production expenditures in the United States are estimated at $392.9 billion for 2021, up from $366.2 billion in 2020. The 2021 total farm production expenditures are up 7.3 percent compared with 2020 total farm production expenditures. The total expenditure average per farm in the United States is $196,087 for 2021, an increase of 7.7 percent from $182,130 in 2020. (file photo)

ATHENS, Ga. — Farm production expenditures in the United States are estimated at $392.9 billion for 2021, up from $366.2 billion in 2020. The 2021 total farm production expenditures are up 7.3 percent compared with 2020 total farm production expenditures. The total expenditure average per farm in the United States is $196,087 for 2021, an increase of 7.7 percent
from $182,130 in 2020.

Total farm expenditures in Florida, at $7.90 billion, are up 2 percent for 2021. Labor expense, which represents 35 percent of Florida’s expenditures, increased 36 percent to $2.73 billion in 2021. Georgia’s 2021 total farm expenditures at $8.16 billion, is up 14 percent from 2020. Feed expense which, represents 31 percent of the expenditures in Georgia, rose 13 percent to $2.55 billion in 2021.
