ATHENS, Ga. — There were 35,000 workers hired directly by farms in the Southeast Region (Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina) duringĀ the reference week of October 9-15, 2022. Farm operators paid their hired workers an average gross wage rate of $14.67 perĀ hour. The number of gross hours worked averaged 41.3 for hired workers during the reference week, up 0.5 hours from theĀ reference week in October 2021.
In Florida, workers hired directly by farm operators numbered 26,000 for the October 9-15, 2022 reference week. HiredĀ workers were paid an average gross wage rate of $16.08, up from $13.30 in October 2021. The number of gross hoursĀ worked was an average of 43.2 hours during the October 2022 reference week.
During the reference week of July 10-16, 2022, there were 36,000 workers hired directly by farms in the Southeast Region. Farm operators paid their hired workers an average gross wage rate of $14.63 per hour during the July 2022 reference week.Ā The number of gross hours worked averaged 40.8 for hired workers during the reference week, unchanged from the averageĀ gross hours worked during July 2021.
There were 24,000 workers hired directly by farms in Florida during the July 2022 reference week. Farm operators paid theirĀ hired workers an average gross wage rate of $15.98 per hour, up from $13.58 in July 2021. The number of gross hoursĀ worked averaged 42.7 for hired workers during the reference week.
