SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — For the week ending April 18, 2021, there were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 24% very short, 34% short, 41% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 25% very short, 44% short, 31% adequate, and 0% surplus.
Field Crops Report: Corn planted was 1%, equal to the five-year average.
Winter wheat condition rated 3% very poor, 16% poor, 45% fair, 35% good, and 1% excellent.
Spring wheat planted was 46%, well ahead of 9% last year and 26% average. Emerged was 15%, ahead of 6% average.
Oats planted was 41%, well ahead of 10% last year, and ahead of 25% average. Emerged was 13%, ahead of 1% last year and 7% average.
