COLUMBIA, S.C. — According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in South Carolina, there were 5.4days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday, November 29, 2020. Precipitation ranged from 0.1 inches of rain to 1.9 inches. Average high temperatures ranged from the low 60s to the mid 70s. Average low temperatures ranged from the mid 30s to the low 60s.
Crops
Some areas had light frosts. Rainfall limited harvesting activities, but benefited winter crops. Peanut harvesting was winding down, with only isolated pockets of unharvested peanuts left. Wheat planting continued as the weather allowed.
Brassicas continued to do well, despite the persistent presence of caterpillars. Strawberries were also progressing well, but there was mention of mites and phytophthora.
Livestock and Pastures
Cattle and pasture condition remained mostly good.
