PIGEON FALLS, Wis. — UW Discovery Farms has worked with farmers in the Cashton and New Richmond areas on water quality and farm management for the past seven years. On August 31 UW Discovery Farms, which is part of UW-Extension, will host a free soils field day that offers 2 CEUs and a meal in both areas. The field days will bring together farmers, advisors and soil experts for an event focused on soils and the latest research results from UW Discovery Farms.
Participants will dig into the data with an up-close look at a soil pit. UW-Madison Soil Scientists Francisco Arriaga and Matt Ruark will be ready to answer any and all soil related questions as they discuss soil physical properties and soil biology. Attendees will also hear about some of the latest research from UW Discovery Farms.
The field day is free of charge and includes a meal.
The afternoon field day will take place from 11 am to 1 pm on the Brad Dorwin Farm which is a ¼ mile east of 2626 County Hwy DD, Glenwood City, WI 54013.
