EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Innovations in Agriculture invites you to join them for “Soil: Your Silent Business Partner,” a field day emphasizing the importance of soil health for both your bottom line and the environment. Too often is soil thought of as simply the thing that keeps your crops upright when in reality, it works just as hard as you do to provide your crops with everything they need for a successful yield. The day kicks off with a demonstration on how adopting a no-till or strip-till system can promote better growth. Other highlights of the day include an introduction to drainage water management, a presentation on the importance of the biological component of soils and how to promote them, and a panel of water quality experts to talk about the state of three well-known bodies of water and how they help shape agriculture in the surrounding regions.
