CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. — The Chippewa County UW-Extension Office is hosting a Soil and Water Management Meeting March 5 at The Back 40 near Bloomer from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The purpose of the meeting is to provide recent data and best management practices from local soil and water research and monitoring programs.
Speakers and topics include Dr. Dick Wolkowski, UW-Madison Soil Scientist, “Effect of tillage and residue management”; Amber Raddatz, Co-director, UW-Discovery Farms, “Managing phosphorous and reducing surface water impact”; Dan Masterpole, Conservationist, Chippewa County Department of Land Conservation and Forest Management, “Update on Chippewa County groundwater studies, irrigation, and water quality”; Todd Prill, Agronomy Educator, UW-Extension Chippewa County, “Cover crop impact on soil nitrogen on a Chippewa County Farm”; Jerry Clark, Agriculture Agent, UW-Extension Chippewa County, “Field crop fertility decisions on a tight budget”.
Cost to attend the meeting is $5.00. Two CCA continuing education credits in soil and water management are available. Pre-registration is encouraged to plan for materials. Walk-ins are welcome.
