NEILLSVILLE, Wis. — Extension Clark County and Extension Taylor County Counties will host series of meetings “So, you want to raise beef.” This is the first of a series of four beef informational meetings. This meeting will be held on July 18, 2019, from 7:30 – 9:30 am, at the Richard and Kay Halopka farm shop located at N726 Robin Dr. Stetsonville, WI.
The goal of these meetings is to inform farmers that may be considering raising beef. The first in the series will focus on pasture management during a trying year. We will tour paddocks reseeded in the spring of 2019 and look at body conditioning scoring of the beef herd. In addition, we will review how to calculate your feed inventory for winter feeding period during the growing season.
Sandy Stuttgen, Taylor County Ag Educator, why body conditioning scoring is important for your rebreeding program.
Richard Halopka, Clark County Ag Educator, will provide background on improving pastures to fulfill cattle nutritional requirements.
There will be some morning refreshments with a free will donation.
