COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — Learn how to trim sheep hooves and gain hands-on experience in caring for small ruminants on your farm with experienced livestock farmers at Crooked Fence Farm.
Located in Reisterstown, Md., Crooked Fence Farm is a diversified farm operation growing “field-to-belly” food. Farmers Sarah and Billy McCarthy raise vegetables, flowers, pork and sheep and sell their products through a CSA and at farmers markets in the region.
Join Crooked Fence Farm on May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon for an intensive introduction to small ruminant healthcare. Learn about basic ruminant biology, general flock upkeep, veterinary options and get hands-on experience trimming the sheep flock’s hooves. A potluck will follow presentations and activities.
