CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. — The UW-Madison Extension offices of Buffalo and Chippewa Counties will host a small grain production and marketing virtual meeting on February 25 beginning from 11:00am-12:30pm. Small grains can fit into many cropping systems and add diversity for crop management. Topics covered during the event include market potential for small grains and malting barley production basics, fungicide and nitrogen fertilizer application, and variety evaluation. Oat fertility and variety selection will be covered. Spring and winter wheat variety selection and nitrogen application will also be discussed. Speakers include Carl Duley, Buffalo County Agriculture Extension Agent, Jerry Clark, Chippewa County Agriculture Extension Agent, and Paul Kerber, Vice President of Grain Operations for River Country Co-op.
