SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — The Seneca Falls Farmers Market is in full swing this year! Come and see all the local produce and other products the market has to offer every Wednesday from 9AM to 1:30PM canal side in People’s Park in Seneca Falls. The park is full to capacity with local vendors, wonderful music and lunch every week from Martin’s Smokehouse BBQ food truck. There are plenty of picnic tables in the shade to visit with friends or enjoy your lunch or snack.
The market is also able to have customers utilize their EBT/SNAP benefits at the market. This electronic transaction is made possible through wireless technology, which is set up at the market manager’s booth. Upon arrival to the market, food stamp customers can use their card to purchase $1 wooden tokens. These tokens then function as cash within the market. And for every $5 of food stamps you use you will be given a $2 coupon to use on any food stamp eligible items at the market. Free money just for using your EBT benefits! So if you ask for $20 worth of tokens you will receive $8 in free coupons to spend at the market.
The tokens and coupons can be used to purchase food-stamp authorized goods such as: fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy, maple syrup and other maple products, honey, breads, baked goods, jams and jellies, processed foods and even seeds and plants which produce food.
The market is once again promoting locally grown and produced items. All of our produce vendors will be accepting Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons, available through the WIC Program and Office for the Aging for families and seniors 60 and over who meet the criteria. The Office For the Aging will be at the market most weeks giving out coupons to seniors who qualify. Stop down and get your $20 book of coupons soon.
The market is open from now until mid-October with many fresh, local items. Stop by and see for yourself!
