SENECA CO., N.Y. — Sample a great Farm to School recipe; get your gardening questions answered from a Master Gardener; find out how to get an energy audit and learn about heat pumps; have your pressure canner gauge checked and get information about food preservation; learn about climate change and recycling; enjoy a Seneca County Root Beer Float; purchase an Eco-Friendly Chicken BBQ and more at the Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension Day at the Waterloo Rotary Farmers Market on Saturday, July 31st! The Market and exhibits will be from 9AM to 1PM at Lafayette Park on Main St. in Waterloo. The BBQ will begin at 10AM and serve until sold out.
SCCCE staff and volunteers will provide information on a number of topics encompassing the range of areas Cooperative Extension covers. 4-H Youth Development will have a STEM soil painting activity and possibly some youth exhibiting their animals. Seneca County Root Beer Floats will feature Vanilla Bean Ice Cream from Cayuga Creamery in Interlaken and Root Beer from Fleur-de-Lis Brew Works in Seneca Falls. The $10 dinners prepared by K & R Catering will include ½ BBQ chicken using the famous Cornell Sauce recipe, salt potatoes, choice of coleslaw or macaroni salad, and roll. The containers and utensils used for the BBQ are all made from recycled and/or compostable materials. Multiple dinner orders will be packaged in a reusable shopping bag designed by Seneca GR&EEN (Generating Recycling and Energy Education Now) students form Mynderse Academy. All proceeds will support the programs of Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension.
