OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) has a strong presence at the Oklahoma State Capitol every legislative session and works closely with legislators to advance and protect the Oklahoma beef cattle industry. Annually, OCA recognizes legislators that go above and beyond working with OCA to accomplish our mission. This year, OCA is honored to recognize Senator Michael Bergstrom with an OCA Legislative Appreciation Award.
“For the past two legislative sessions, OCA prioritized legislation that would make labeling of alternative meat products more transparent and accurate for consumers,” said Michael Kelsey, OCA Executive Vice President. “Senator Bergstrom helped lead that legislative charge in the Senate during both legislative sessions.”
Senator Micheal Bergstrom was elected to represent the first Senate district in 2016. He was recently re-elected to that seat winning his primary race on June 30, 2020. Before being elected to the Senate, Senator Bergstrom was a teacher in the Bluejacket school district. Senator Bergstrom and his wife Robin live in Adair.
“The OCA is thrilled to recognize Senator Bergstrom and thank him for his leadership for two consecutive legislative sessions to shepherd two different bills through the Legislature that address labeling of alternative meat products,” said Kelsey.
The OCA is the trusted voice of the Oklahoma Cattle Industry. OCA is the only voice that speaks solely for the cattlemen of Oklahoma and represents beef producers in all 77 counties across the state. The OCA officers, board of directors and membership encourages you to join us in our advocacy efforts to ensure less government intervention, lower taxes and a better bottom line.
