BURLINGTON — University of Vermont Extension and the Vermont Dairy Industry Association (VDIA) are seeking nominations for the 2018 Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year. The deadline to submit isĀ April 27.
The award, which has been presented annually since 1961, honors one outstanding dairy farm each year for overall excellence in dairying. Nominees are evaluated by aĀ judging committee, comprised of past winners, on their overall farm management, innovative practices, milk quality,Ā crops, pasture quality, conservation practices and promotion ofĀ the dairy industry.
Anyone may nominate a farm. Previous nominees that did not win may be nominated again.Ā The winner will be announced this summer.

The Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year award is sponsored by the New England Green Pastures Program, which also recognizes a state winner from each of the other five New England states. The Vermont winner will be honored at the VDIA annual meeting and at the farmer luncheonĀ at the Vermont Farm Show in Essex Junction as well as at an awards banquet at Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts, in September along with the other New England winners.
