RALEIGH, N.C. — The Southeast Transition to Organic Partnership Program(SE TOPP) is a new USDA program that NC State is participating in to support North Carolina organic growers and growers interested in organic production. USDA’s goal is to support producers transitioning to organic production and build regional partnerships in the Southeast.
As part of the Southeast Transition to Organic Partnership Program, there is a mentorship opportunity available to growers who have USDA-certified organic operations as well as growers who are interested in transitioning to certified organic production. Compensation is available for participating mentors, and mentees are able to receive reimbursement for attending educational opportunities. To participate in this program mentors must be experienced certified organic producers and mentees should have a demonstrated interest in transitioning land to certified organic production. Enrollment is currently open for both mentors and mentees.
