PERRY, Ga. – AgGeorgia Farm Credit has designated $10,000 to help local farmers markets promote their markets in 2024, and the application period is now open. AgGeorgia started the Farmers Market Grant Program in 2020 to provide relief to struggling markets during the height of COVID-19.
“Supporting farm markets aligns perfectly with our mission to improve the lives of Georgia’s farmers, families, and rural communities,” said AgGeorgia’s Chief Marketing Officer Corey Cottle. “When people buy from farmers markets, they support area farmers, reinvest their dollars in the local economy, and provide their family with fresh, nutritious foods. It’s a win for everyone, and we want to help promote deserving markets.”
To be eligible for the grant, markets must be in AgGeorgia’s 79 county territory, be open at least eight days during a two-month period, and at least 50 percent of the vendors — five being the minimum — must sell agricultural products. Applicants should include a detailed plan that incorporates AgGeorgia’s logo or name in their promotion. To be considered for the grant, markets agree to participate in promotional opportunities with AgGeorgia (i.e., story for local newspapers, our magazine, visit from news media, etc.).
The deadline to complete the online application is April 15, 2024. For more information and to apply, visit www.aggeorgia.com/FarmersMarketGrant.
