LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Farm Bureau will award one Andrew Butler Memorial Agriculture Scholarship per year to a student pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. The amount of this scholarship is $2000 per semester with a cap of $16,000, depending upon the type of school and its curriculum setup. (If the student is pursuing a two-year program with two semesters per year, then the cap is four semesters for a total of $8000. If the student is pursuing a four-year program with two semesters per year, then the cap is $16,000.) Scholarships can be applied to tuition, housing, books, equipment, supplies, etc. Payments are made directly to the student and will be distributed after the successful completion of each college or technical school semester. No monies will be distributed until qualified college/technical school grades have been received and approved by the Scholarship Committee.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, applicant must meet all of these requirements:
- Have a valid high school diploma, a GED diploma, or be a graduating high school senior.
- Be a Jefferson County Farm Bureau member or the child (under 23 years of age) of a Jefferson County Farm Bureau
member who has been a member for at least one year prior to the submission of this application and who remains a member while the scholarship is in effect. - Family members of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee are not eligible.
RULES
- Recipient may enter any accredited college, university, or technical school as long as the course of study is agriculture related.
- Once the scholarship is awarded, student must enroll in the school of choice within twelve (12) months.
- Dropping out of school, except for serious illness or injury, shall cause the recipient to lose the scholarship. The remaining award will then go to the first alternate.
- Winner must be a full-time student each semester unless an exception is requested in writing and approved by the
Scholarship Committee. - Winner is required to furnish to the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee a transcript for each semester completed before monies are sent to the student for that semester. Just like a job, one is paid for the work after it is successfully completed.
- Student must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 after each semester or forfeit the award. (If the cumulative GPA drops below 2.5, student may be allowed one semester to improve to 2.5, with the approval of the Scholarship Committee.)
- Mail or hand-deliver the completed application and supporting materials so that they are received by April 30, 2018 to:
