LEXINGTON, Ky. — SBS Farms performance horses were on a roll in Lexington, Kentucky during both weeks of the Country Heir show held at the legendary Kentucky Horse Park — There was no shortage of tricolor ribbons!
Led by SBS Farms Trainer Jennifer Alfano, the team made waves in multiple divisions with horses Girl Crush owned by Helen Lenahan, Jersey Boy owned by Schoellkopf, Kindred and Silver Lining, both owned by Kathy Chiaf.
To kick off Country Heir I held June 7-11, Jersey Boy was ridden to an outstanding finish of Reserve Champion by Alfano in the Performance Hunter 3’3” division, with two second-place finishes and two third-place finishes.
Continuing their success the following week during Country Heir II, Jersey Boy and Alfano claimed a great second-place finish in the competitive $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby Pro. The combination also took home both a first-place and a third-place finish in $600 WCHR Performance Hunter 3’6” classes.
Chiaf’s Kindred had a very impressive outing at both Country Heir shows. In Country Heir I, Kindred and Alfano were Reserve Champion Green Hunter 3’, winning two Green Hunter classes and taking third place in another.
Kindred and Alfano came out on top during Country Heir II, winning the Champion title in the Green Hunter 3’.
Lenahan’s Girl Crush and Peter Pletcher jumped to good finishes during Country Heir I as well, taking home two second-place ribbons in the $500 Green Hunter 3’6” classes. For Country Heir II, Alfano took to the ring with Girl Crush to claim a victory in the $500 WCHR Green Hunter 3’6”, as well as a second-place finish in the $500 WCHR Green Handy Hunter 3’6”.
Chiaf’s Silver Lining, ridden by SBS Farms Assistant Trainer Alicia Heberle, took home good finishes during Country Heir I, including a third-place in the $500 Green Hunter 3’6”. Chiaf rode Silver Lining herself for Country Heir II, finishing well in the $200 WCHR Adult Amateur Hunter 3’ 50+.
With the training help of Heberle, Sydney Steffee collected multiple ribbons in the Short Stirrup division with Ivy Green owned by Emma Fletcher. Steffee and Ivy Green claimed second-place in the Opportunity Short Stirrup Equitation 2′, third-place in the Equitation 11 and Under 2′, and fifth-place in the Opportunity Short Stirrup/Limit Hunter 2′ during Country Heir II.
