RENSSELAER CO., N.Y. — Twenty Rensselaer County 4-H Teen Exchange members hosted 19 teens from Skagit County, Washington. This cultural exchange program provided an opportunity for teens to develop a host schedule that would provide a good experience for their Washington friends to see what it is like to live in Rensselaer County, New York.
Our week included many stops to local destinations such as the Capitol, USS Slater, Brunswick Beach, Valley Cats Game, Lake George, Allenwaite Farm, Saratoga Track, Lock 4 and a day in New York City. Just like Rensselaer County 4-H members learned last year about Skagit County, we hope the Skagit County 4-H members went home with a better understanding of the diverse industries, geography and culture of this part of New York.
It is clear by watching these 39 teens merge for the week that many life-long friendships and connections were made.
