COLUMBIA CO., N.Y. — The Master Gardener Volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties invite the public to attend this year’s Spring Gardening Day event at Columbia-Greene Community College, Saturday, April 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eighteen, one-hour classes will be offered in three concurrent sessions, covering a wide range of gardening topics.
Adam Wheeler is the keynote speaker for this year’s Spring Gardening Day. Adam is the Horticulture Manager at Broken Arrow Nursery in Hamden, CT, a past recipient of the Young Nursery Professional Award from the New England Nursery Association, and is the current Vice President of the North American Maple Society. His presentation is entitled “Thinking Outside the Box: Using Excellent Plants In Creative Ways”. Adam loves to share his passion for plants through photography and educational outreach and in his spare time enjoys cultivating his eclectic collection of rare and unusual plants and growing competitive giant pumpkins.
The day, which runs from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, includes three break-out sessions on a variety of gardening topics including: Creating a Cutting Garden; Container Gardens; Designing Your Front Yard; Herb Gardening; Vegetable Gardening; Deer Proofing and more, presented by local experts and Master Gardeners. The Garden Marketplace features a variety of local gardening and related vendors. Time has been apportioned during the day to visit the marketplace. Space is limited, so register now to secure your place. Take advantage of the early registration price of $30 if payment is received prior to March 6. After March 6, the fee is $35. Please note that registration is complete only upon receipt of payment. The fee of $35 is all-inclusive for one, two or three sessions including the keynote speaker. Your class and room assignment will be available for pick up between 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. on the day of the event. Registration fees are non-refundable.
