MT. VERNON, Ill. — The Heart of America Grazing Conference is scheduled for August 10 and 11 and registration has begun. The meeting is sponsored by the Illinois Grazing Lands Coalition, Clinton and Jefferson County SWCDs, The Pasture Project, Farm Credit Service, Illinois Farm Bureau, and Illinois Beef Association. The event includes a pre-conference pasture walk at the Perry Hottes operation, located near the conference hotel, the Double Tree Hotel, 222 Potomac Blvd. in Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
The event includes a full agenda with great speakers and informative presentations. The featured speaker is Greg Judy, who will share information on his grazing operation and management skills gained over years of grazing experience. This is a live, in-person event, full of good guidance for anyone currently pursuing a rotational grazing operation or already in the business. Topics include carbon-smart options, money-saving benefits of rotational grazing and pasture management, virtual fencing, and inside information on soil health and soil biology.
Registration costs are $65 for both days or one day for $50. Student fees are just $25.
