BLAIRSVILLE, Pa. — The Penn State Extension Dairy Team and regional dairy industry businesses are partnering to host a Southwest Pennsylvania Regional Dairy Day event on March 9 at the Chestnut Ridge Conference Center in Blairsville, Pa. Featuring a trade show, speakers and a panel discussion, the event will bring the most up-to-date information to dairy producers and dairy industry professionals.
The trade show will begin at 8:45 a.m., and educational presentations will begin at 10 a.m., concluding at 2:30 p.m. There is no fee to attend the event, but pre-registration is requested by March 4. Lunch is included with registration. Tickets will be distributed by local agribusinesses or are available by calling the Penn State Extension office in Indiana County at 724-465-3880.
Topics to be discussed include:
- Managing Forage for Efficiency & Digestibility, presented by Ev Thomas, Oak Point Agronomics
- Veterinary Update on Animal Care, presented by Dr. Daniel Zawisza, White Oak Veterinary Clinic
- Robotic Milking Systems & Other Automated Technologies, a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Charles Gardner, DVM, Consultant with Pennsylvania Center for Dairy Excellence
The entire program will be filled with opportunities for dairy producers to interact with vendors, network with other producers, and gain useful insight and tips for ensuring their dairy business is more profitable in the future.
“This annual event provides a great venue for dairy producers in Southwest Pennsylvania to come together and learn about the latest products and topics that are relevant to them from knowledgeable and committed industry personnel, helping them to make important decisions for their future success,” Extension Educator Andrew Sandeen said.
