INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana’s Family of Farmers (IFoF) plans to connect fairgoers with Hoosier farmers and the quality food they supply at the 2021 Indiana State Fair by once again hosting the Recipe Trail. This scavenger hunt features recipe cards that are located across the fairgrounds and takes place all 18 days of the Fair.
IFoF will also donate one freezer, which will later be filled with $250 of local meat and dairy products, to the owners of the Habitat for Humanity home being built at this year’s State Fair.
IFoF Recipe Trail
The IFoF Recipe Trail provides cards that feature farm-favorite recipes highlighting Indiana commodities such as pork, beef, poultry, soy, corn and dairy. On the back of the recipe cards, participants will find facts about local commodities and how they are grown. Those interested in participating in the Recipe Trail may start at any of the ten locations and travel to each stop to collect each recipe card.
The Recipe Trail locations are:
- Glass Barn
- Harvest Pavilion
- Farm Bureau & Hoosier Spirit Park
- Pioneer Village
- Purdue Ag/Hort
- Normandy Barn
- Swine Barn
- Northwest Pavilion
- WGU Parklet
- Fair Sign: Take a picture of yourself as the “I” in the Fair Sign and show to the attendant at Animal Town to count as a stop.
- Decorative Flower Wall: Take a picture in front of the Flower Wall in the Purdue Ag/Hort Building and show to the attendant at Animal Town to count as a stop.
When all 10 recipe cards have been collected, participants may visit Animal Town to receive a prize for participating.
Habitat for Humanity Partnership
IFoF is again partnering with Habitat for Humanity at the Indiana State Fair. Each year, Habitat for Humanity builds a home on the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center during the Fair to be donated to local families. IFoF will donate a freezer to the recipient of this year’s home. Later this year when the families occupy their new homes, IFoF will supply $250 of local dairy and meat products to fill their new freezers.
IFoF is made up of many agriculture organizations in Indiana that have rallied around the group’s mission to raise the awareness of Indiana’s quality farmers and quality foods. To learn more about Indiana’s Family of Farmers, visit www.indianafamilyoffarmers.com.
