SPRINGFIELD — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and his wife are donating one-million dollars to help restore the coliseum on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Rauner made the announcement during Ag Day events on Tuesday at the fair.
The donation to the fairgrounds comes along with naming rights, which the governor plans to hand off to students around the state. He says details on a contest will be released soon.
Rauner also purchased the Illinois State Fair Grand Champion Steer sold at auction last night during the Sale of Champions. His winning bid was $60,000.
