BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Do you want to consume eggs or meat from chickens that are happily raised? Then plan to keep some in your backyard or other location. Poultry are an easy livestock for anyone to manage.
Simple housing, appropriate nutrition, hygienic conditions and the right choice of breed is all it takes to get a steady supply of highly nutritious eggs. Pam Utterback (U of I Extension Poultry Specialist) will deliver most of the presentations, and will be assisted by James Theuri, Local Foods educator. Pam will have a demonstration of features that reflect egg quality. Presentations will be relevant and beneficial for any level of poultry keeping.
