JOLIET, Ill. — Do you want to consume eggs or meat from chickens that are happily raised? Then plan to keep some in your backyard or other small area. Poultry are an easy livestock for anyone to manage.
Simple housing, appropriate nutrition, hygienic conditions and the right choice of breed is all it takes to get a steady supply of highly nutritious eggs. In addition to the topics above, there will be a demonstration of egg features by guest speaker Pam Utterback (U of I Extension poultry specialist). Presentations will be appropriate for any level of poultry keeping.
