WASHINGTON — On Monday, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai said he backs a public auction to free up mid-band spectrum that is currently utilized to deliver video programming and represents a huge opportunity for the development of 5G networks.
Rural and Agriculture Council of America President Jack Alexander issued the following statement:
“We support Chairman Ajit Pai’s decision to proceed with a fair and transparent public auction to free up C-Band spectrum – an important and necessary step to help make 5G a reality. We agree that an auction conducted by the Federal Communications Commission is the most efficient way to make this critical mid-band spectrum available. As Chairman Pai notes, C-Band not only has the capacity for large amounts of data but offers significant geographic coverage, which will be needed to reach our rural communities.”
