FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles will accompany United States Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue for the Secretary’s third “Back to Our Roots” RV tour on Thursday and Friday stops in Kentucky.
“I am excited to join Secretary Sonny Perdue on his tour through Kentucky,” Commissioner Ryan Quarles said. “Too often our leaders in Washington, D.C. get stuck in the bubble of partisan politics, and I am glad to see Secretary Perdue placing a premium on direct interactions with American producers and agribusinesses.”
Secretary Perdue, Commissioner Quarles, and other public officials will participate in a listening session with Kentucky Farm Bureau in Mays Lick and tour Harold White Lumber Company in Morehead on Thursday. On Friday, they will visit Townsend Sorghum Mill, tour Montgomery County High School’s Agriculture Department, and conclude with a lunch at Keeneland. After each stop, the Secretary will hold a media availability for available press. Media interested in covering any of the events must RSVP to press@oc.usda.gov prior to the event.
A farmer, veterinarian, and former Governor of Georgia, Sonny Perdue was confirmed to serve as the United States Secretary of Agriculture on April 24, 2017. As Secretary, he has promoted American agriculture interests around the world and has been a vocal advocate for policies that will bring prosperity to rural America.
