LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Back during the days of World War II, Victory Gardens sprouted up across the country to free up food for soldiers fighting overseas. The public’s response was overwhelming – establishing an estimated 20 million Victory Gardens across the country that produced 40% of the nation’s fruits and vegetables.
Today’s ‘war’ seeks to defeat the coronavirus and people are rallying to celebrate a much needed victory by planting the 2020 version of a Victory Garden. With more time on our hands, and a newly stimulated awareness of self sufficiency, people are seeking gardening for food, and perhaps a more important reason, a new happy place. Watch this uplifting video that shows the new demand for food plants and seeds, and the joy of Victory Gardens!
