DOVER, Del. — Whether you are an established small agriculture producer or a beginning farmer, you will want to attend the 12th annual Profiting from a Few Acres conference, sponsored jointly by Delaware State University Cooperative Extension and USDA.
The conference will be held March 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Student Center on the DSU campus in Dover. Sessions cover a wide range of ag business topics including free range eggs, soil health for grazing, livestock water requirements, small ruminants and vermicast, or worm production. Horticulture Specialist and committee chair Dr. Rose Ogutu is certain that this is a ‘can’t miss’ event for small farm owners.
“Our goal this year is to provide a greater variety of educational offerings for attendees,” Ogutu said. “Our guest speaker is Pam Mount of Terhune Orchards in Princeton, N.J. She will discuss how her family grew their farm into a sustainable agricultural enterprise.”
Registration for participants is $25, which includes lunch, and $100 for vendors, which includes booth space, program listing and lunch.
