SYRACUSE, N.Y. — NYS Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball and PRO-DAIRY Director Thomas Overton presented the PRO-DAIRY Agriservice Awards to David Fisher and Lou Anne King, Mapleview Dairy, Madrid and Russ Saville, Cargill Animal Nutrition, Fort Ann, during Dairy Day at the NYS Fair on Thursday, August 31. These awards are given in appreciation and recognition of outstanding contributions to NYS agriculture through support of the PRO-DAIRY program.
“This year’s recipients are recognized for their close involvement with PRO-DAIRY programs over time, and in particular, for the many collaborative partnerships they have developed with PRO-DAIRY,” Dr. Overton said.
The Mapleview Dairy partners have been exceptionally involved in dairy industry leadership at the local, regional, and statewide levels in New York. They are a role model for leadership in the industry and pro-active approaches to business management, environmental and herd management practices, and issues including employee health and safety.
The New York dairy industry is recognized for its high caliber allied industry professionals and supporters and their work to ensure that the best people and programs are in place at Cornell and other state institutions. Saville has been highly involved in the development and promotion of PRO-DAIRY programs that allow dairy farmers to advance their business management practices and overall management and leadership skills. This long-standing and continual effort benefits clients and the industry at large.
