LEBANON, Pa. — The Private Applicator Pesticide Short Course is aimed at those who would like to become certified private pesticide applicators to apply restricted-use pesticides on their farm or property. This course will prepare individuals for the private applicator exam. The dates are Feb. 27 and March 1.
This event is being offered in 12 locations across Pennsylvania using video conferencing.
It will be up to the individual to schedule and take the exam at a later date. Students should plan on attending both days of the course to be prepared for the exam. The private applicator exam is open book. Our focus will be to provide an overview of the material and help you become familiar with the material and where it is located in the manual.
Topics covered in the study materials will be reinforced to prepare applicators to take the Pennsylvania certification exam. New applicators are not required to attend this class before taking the exam, but it may help you prepare.
Certification Exam Study Materials
Study materials are not included with the registration fee. All participants are responsible for bringing their own certification examination training packets to class.
Order your training packets in advance to make sure they arrive in time for you to use during the course. The manual was updated from the “blue book” in 2009. If you have a blue “pesticide Education Manual,” it is still valid, but we strongly encourage the use of the new manual.
Ordering information is available at http://extension.psu.edu/pests/pesticide-education/applicators/certification/packets or by calling Penn State Publications Distribution Center 1-877-345-0691 (toll-free). You can reference the following publication:
