ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Swine Specialist Dave Stender will host a Pork Quality Assurance Plus (PQA Plus) and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA) session on Dec. 14 at the ISU Extension and Outreach – Sioux County office in Orange City.
PQA Plus and TQA are part of the swine industry “We Care” responsible pork production initiative which establishes ethical principles for pork producers to produce safe food, protect and promote animal well-being, protect public health, safeguard natural resources, provide a safe work environment and contribute to a better quality of life in local communities.
“Pork producers continue to show their dedication to safe and responsible pork production through their participation in PQA Plus, TQA and We Care,” Stender said. “These programs are designed to assure consumers that Iowa pork producers are working hard to provide quality care to their animals and wholesome, safe food to consumers.”
The TQA session will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Dec. 14, and the PQA Plus session will go from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. that same day.
Registration for the PQA Plus and/or TQA session is $25 and includes a 129-page Common Swine Industry Audit (CSIA) Notebook which helps swine producers to gather and organize all required documents and records for a Common Swine Industry Audit.
For more information and/or to register for a session, contact Stender at 712-225-6196 or 712-261-0225 or dstender@iastate.edu.
