HARRISBURG, Pa. — Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., recently introduced the Dairy Business Innovation Act of 2018. Regional initiatives established by the legislation would provide technical assistance and grants to promote innovation in dairy products, support new and expanding dairy businesses and assist with plant modernization.
This legislation addresses two of the most common suggestions offered to the Board to respond to the current dairy market situation: develop new dairy products and increase processing/manufacturing capacity in Pennsylvania.
The board encourages Pennsylvania dairy stakeholders to review the act at https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/3113/text and to contact their United States senators to discuss the Act. Sen. Casey may be contacted at https://www.casey.senate.gov/contact/ and Sen. Toomey at https://www.toomey.senate.gov/?p=contact.
