MONTROSE, Pa. — The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Susquehanna County are holding a massive fundraising plant sale and catalogs are available to pre-order nearly 80 different varieties of perennials as well as a huge selection of vegetables, herbs and annuals. Proceeds help us fund educational gardening programs to residents throughout the county.
Programs are held at Salt Springs, Harford Fair, countywide Senior Centers, local Garden Clubs presentations and at our array of demonstration gardens, to name a few. In addition to pre-order sales the Master Gardeners are hosting a Master Gardener Plant Sale Festival on Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Penn State Extension Office in Montrose where there will be even more plants to peruse. Pre-orders will be picked up during the Festival days.
A special feature on Saturday is Master Gardeners Paul Kuntz & Ben Robinson will give an informal talk about Lasagna Gardening and a tour of all the other various beds in the new garden. Master Gardeners will begin to plant the Lasagna bed and the tours will be given throughout the day at one-hour intervals.
The Festival will feature vendors including so far: MES Barnwood Signs, Woodcrafter: Larry Mack, Wyldflower Farm, Lathrop Designs, Haymakers Grill, Paparazzi Jewelry, The Barn at April Valley, Ellsworth Landscaping: Samantha Ellsworth, Griffis R T & Sons Lumber Co and others. There will be tents and tables full of plants, gardening information, book sales, garden tours and gardening demonstrations.
