MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County recently held their 104th Annual Corporate Meeting and Awards Dinner honoring volunteers, staff, and elected new community people to the Board of Directors. Highlighting these achievements included Executive Director Lucy Joyce and Board President Dr. Paul Johnson along with many local officials.
The “2019 Distinguished Service Award” was presented to Michael R. Pillmeier of Florida in recognition of his continued dedicated service to the organization, having significantly furthered the purpose/mission for which the organization was founded, and continued support over a number of years helping to provide many opportunities to the residents of Orange County.
The “Volunteer of the Year Award” was presented to Paul & Eunice Bookstaver of Slate Hill. The award is presented to an individual/s who demonstrates support for Cornell Cooperative Extension and its mission through many hours of volunteering and participation in programs/activities to enhance the opportunities available for the youth and adults of Orange County. Both Paul and Eunice have dedicated numerous volunteer hours to the construction of Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County’s Education Center & 4-H Park and donating their photography expertise at many of our programs and events.
During the business portion of the meeting local residents were elected to the Board of Directors. Re-elected to serve on the Board of Directors for 2020 were Dr. Paul Johnson and Everett Collie, both of Middletown, and Belinda Van Dunk of Hamptonburgh. Newly elected to serve in 2020 are Gordon Dean of Middletown and Howard Mills of Hamptonburgh.
