NEW ORLEANS — Pennsylvania Farm Bureau won “Awards of Excellence” in all four program activity areas, including Advocacy; Engagement and Outreach; Leadership and Business Development; and Membership Value; during the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
“The awards highlight the hard work and dedication of our grassroots farmer volunteers and organization staff, who work in unison to achieve successful outcomes and address timely issues affecting Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry and its farm families,” said PFB President Rick Ebert.
Aside from the Awards of Excellence, PFB received the Apex Award from the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. The award showcases state farm bureaus that have increased their total donations to the foundation by 10 percent or more from the previous year.
AFBFA also presented PFB with the State Leader Award, the Challenge Award and the $850 for 85 Challenge Award. State Leader Awards are presented to state Farm Bureaus when each board member of the respective Farm Bureau donates at least $50 to the foundation; the Challenge Award was given to Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s Agriculture Promotion, Young Farmer & Rancher and Women’s Leadership Committees, because 100 percent of each group donated at least $25 to the foundation. Finally, PFB’s Women’s Leadership Committee answered the call from the American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee to donate $850 to the White-Reinhardt Fund for Education.
Farmers from Pennsylvania and across the United States gathered in New Orleans from Jan. 11-16 to participate in AFBF’s Annual Meeting and to set new federal policies for the nation’s largest farm organization.
