LAKE HALLIE, Wis. — Chippewa County UW-Extension will host the annual Pest Management Update meeting November 5 at the Eagles Club in Lake Hallie beginning with registration at 8:30am and the program from 9am to 12pm with lunch to follow. University of Wisconsin-Extension specialists in weed science, plant pathology, and entomology will present the latest information on pest management and biology for Wisconsin field crops.
Speakers include Bryan Jensen with UW-Madison Entomology, Rodrigo Werle, UWMadison Weed Scientist, Damon Smith, UW-Madison Plant Pathology, and weed scientist Mark Renz, UW-Madison. Topics will include, Integrated Pest Management Updates in corn, soybeans, alfalfa, and small grains; update on new products and/or use of existing products as well as brief highlights which include soybean gall midge update, update on neonic registrations, corn rootworm resistance update, pre- and post-emergence corn and soybean herbicide efficacy on waterhemp and giant ragweed, preventing the spread of herbicide-resistant weeds, re-cap of the corn tar spot situation in Wisconsin, and updates on soybean white mold fungicide efficacy.
A packet of information will be supplied to all registered participants. The packet will include handouts and a copy of the 2020 Pest Management in Wisconsin Field Crops (A3646) guide.
The registration fee is $50 which includes the information packet, refreshments, and lunch. Additional copies of the information packet will be available for purchase for $25. Registrations received after October 31 and walk-ins will be charged an additional $10.
Three hours of CCA CEU pest management credits are available. The Eagles Club is located off Business HWY 53 south, across from Farm and Fleet.
