CAMP HILL, Pa. — Somerset County farmer Larry Cogan and Cambria County farmer Tommy Nagle have been elected as new members of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s (PFB) State Board of Directors.
Cogan, who currently raises pigs and sheep and grows hay on a small farm he purchased in 2017, represents District 11, which includes farmers from Bedford, Blair and Somerset Counties. Prior to that, Cogan and his wife, Nila, owned and operated a floral and greenhouse business for 30 years, Nagle, who raises angus beef cattle and grows grains on his family farm, represents farmers from Cambria, Clearfield and Indiana Counties.

Cogan has a long history of involvement with Farm Bureau, serving in a variety of capacities, including Somerset County Farm Bureau president, vice president and policy development chair. Cogan even worked for Pennsylvania Farm Bureau as a Regional Organization Director from 1978-1983.
“I’ve always understood the importance of Farm Bureau and how it benefits the general farming community, said Larry Cogan. “It’s critically important to have an organization that looks out for the best interests of farmers across the Commonwealth.”
(Tommy Nagle)
Nagle has been serving as Cambria County Farm Bureau president since 2011 and has also held the roles of county Farm Bureau vice president and policy development chair. Nagle and his wife, Tracey, won PFB’s Young Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award in 2013.
“I believe that we are at a pivotal time in agriculture with a lot of uncertainty in farming, especially with a challenging ag economy,” said Tommy Nagle. “I’m interested in promoting agriculture and having conversations with people about what we do as farmers to produce food for consumers and talking with them about any questions or concerns they have about production agriculture.”
Cogan was nominated by caucuses of county Farm Bureaus in the 11th district, while Nagle was nominated by caucuses of county Farm Bureaus in the 12th district. Both men were approved by Farm Bureau voting delegates during PFB’s 69th Annual Meeting in Hershey.
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau is the state’s largest farm organization, representing farms of every size and commodity across Pennsylvania.
